Caitlin Murphy, PhD

Caitlin Murphy, PhD, MPH, is a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Public Health Sciences at the University of Chicago. She is a cancer epidemiologist focused on young adults—an age when a cancer diagnosis can disrupt life plans and create long-term health challenges. Her research combines population data with clinical and laboratory science to understand both why cancer occurs and how its effects persist across the life course. 

Dr. Murphy’s work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the American Cancer Society, and has been featured in The New York TimesThe Washington Post, and Scientific American

She earned an MPH in Health Promotion from UTHealth Houston School of Public Health and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
